I am going to try this once without any research just to see if I can guess. I’ll follow up with research.
A – Roy Halladay
B – Clay Buchholz
Close?
With a little research I can confirm B…but Halladay was good from the get go…still hunting for the comp.
I am going to have to go with Johan Santana for pitcher A….if it’s not right…it’s pretty close.

Also close but not quite right was John Smoltz.

Schilling?
Pedro?
Maddux probably? I know he struggles mightily the first two years of his career.
