Bases loaded, one out, but at least we got one – one – before the inevitable consecutive-strikeouts-on-pitches-out-of-the-zone.

Let’s face the facts: WE SUCK.
    We need an upgrade!

I’d rather have a future than a slight chance at the present.

Come on, Buchholz 25 and still has not proven anything. He is not a 22 year old phenom or anything like that.
And Gonzalez is not just a player for the present. He is a cornerstone for the future. He is only 27 and already one of the best first basemen in baseball, and he has amassed his huge numbers in PETCO.
And we re-stock the farm every year. It’s not like we are gonna lose the only prospects we ever gonna have. Prospects come and go.

And with Lowell, Tek and Papi in the decline, and Bay walking after this year. We have no future. This lineup is gonna be filled with holes next year. We need a cornerstone. A new big buy to build a team around.

    And Oakland ties the game…
What’s the use of pitching if we don’t have an offensse capable of scoring more than one run per game?

Meanwhile, the other guys get the bases loaded with one out, and they haven’t missed the ball yet. With the bullpen worn down, I guess the SPs feel the need to be overworked…
    Free fall continues.

Think of it this way fellas.
If this is truly another 2006, then 2010 might be a fuck yeah year for Boston.
    Here’s hoping for patterns.

I’m probably not going to join the Papi+steroids discussions, and I’m probably not going to give him much love for a bit, but as my last note about him for a while, that was one heckuva jack.

How the hell are we supposed to feel about this one? Also, I can 100% see Ortiz walking around with a tiny cup challenging reporters to a round-the-clock drug test.

I guess the question is, has there been a positive from him ever since? I mean, good god, he’s had a gut ever since he came from Mn, so if he’s using steroids he’s been stupid this entire time.

Is Papelbon our closer? Don’t get your hopes too high up.
I guess I kinda feel that we’re still just playing the A’s, and this is where we should be. splitting a 4 game series with the A’s is not going to inspire an overwhelming amount of confidence. Only that disaster is currently slightly avoided.

Instead of the 5/6 of 7 wins we hoped for in this home stand we got 4 of 7, even while everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Optimist? The team scored 30 runs in the last 4 games, 42 on the 7 game home stand, so hitting was stronger than the record indicates. The slumps are ending across the board.
Pitching? Another mixed bag going to Baltimore. Smoltz tomorrow, Beckett Sat., then Wake or Buchholz Sunday. Penny & Lester at Tampa Bay??? We’ll be fine.
In the meantime, despite the struggles, the Sox are no more than 3.5G behind, and the Rays have fallen way back. This post season run is by no means over, folks. If I’m a player, Papi’s issue pisses me off big time, and I spend the next month playing at the top of my game. And sweeping at a Yankee hate-Papi-fest next week will be a team goal. Controlled emotions by the Sox. Look out.
