No, I can't see him or anyone sustaining this level of play for long . . . maybe Pujols. But this streak indicates his offensive skills are catching up to his defense.
He's adjusting. He has started to grind pitchers deep into counts, working BB, spraying his hits like Pete Runnells, bunting, even while showing power. I wonder if he can use the wall like Lowrie did. I think Bill James predicted a .302BA season and he may be conservative. Jacoby long term as a Gold Glove CF, a .300/15/60/100+R/.365/.465 hitter with 70SB. He is growing into his legend, I think.

Agreed that would be amazing. I think we are seeing Ellsbury's potential, finally. In other words, although he will not hit .400 he CAN hit for a high average with some power. And plate discipline can be learned.

Rogers Hornsby was awfully close in 1924 with a .424/.507/.696/1.203.
Honestly, can you imagine someone producing like Ellsbury has for the previous 10 days for an entire season?
