New Poll Question:
What is your reaction to David Ortiz’ inclusion on the 2003 positive PED test list?
- He’s no better than Bonds, Arod or Clemens. He used and there’s no coming back.
- Thanks for the “tainted” memories.
- Not shocked, just dissappointed. He can still make right by coming clean.
- Who cares, everyone did something in this era.
- Just keep performing and I’ll come up with a reason not to crucify him.
These aren’t the only options that anyone has a right to feel in regards to this situation, but I think everyone can associated loosely with one of the buckets.
As always, new poll is up to the right…vote away and argue it out in the comments.

With the trade deadline approaching and rumors flying, where should Theo and the front office focus their efforts?

Victor Martinez may not be Adrian Gonzalez, but he’s looking like a nice fit in the lineup so far. Will starting pitching continue to be an un-addressed Achilles heel? Only time will tell.

Tim tim tim tim, not a single “I believe him”? With the NY Daily News report from yesterday saying that some (still sketchy, no doubt) energy supplements would be a false positive on the ‘03 test.
Again, playing Devil’s Advocate, but it’s possible that he still wasn’t an injector. And until we find out what’s going on in the ‘03 test and its awful methodology, I’m not slinging rocks at the man.
The Manny, however, a bit different.
I have to go with the 4th option.
We don’t have enough information yet about the test and the results. A “PED” is just too nebulous. What exactly were they testing for, how did they conduct the test, and what exactly was the result? Until we have some solid info, I’m not going to pass judgment. You would be wise to do the same, and stop obsessing over things you don’t know.
Not shocked, just dissappointed. He can still make right by coming clean.
Hope this option is the one that plays out.

PS: Anyone know why I get the “Comment Suggestion Entry” whenever I try to comment?
I don’t care about this issue at all, but I agree with Alan and Sean. Were amphetimenes included in this test? Because half the school kids in this country are on those, and they’re awesome.
I’ll reserve my judgment until we find out exactly what PED Ortiz was found to be taking. If it is something as trivial as amphetamines(greenies), I’ll just have to lump him in with every other player from the 1960’s to 2003.
Still waiting on Papi. And according to Tito, Papi is waiting for the Sox to let him talk.
I am certain that this has become a very hot issue, because Papi can’t get the information about what he tested for until the courts give it to him. Neither MLB nor the PA have that info, as they confiscated and sealed it; sort of:
1. The information is under court seal.
2. Two NY homer attornies leaked this sealed info about two prominent Sox players. This is illegal and unethical. They are in trouble.
3. Leaked it to a homer New York reporter, who took the lawyers at their word, without substantiation. (It can’t be substantiated as the information is confidential and under court seal)
4. The NYTimes ran this illegally and unethically obtained story, again without substantiation.
5. This has become a hot button. The judge wants & needs to know how this information leaked, the lawyers’ bosses must be livid, MLB, the PA, the Sox, the players are probably discussing law suits. The court has probably circled the wagons…a little late…until all these legal issues are resolved.
6. If this is the case, neither Papi nor the Red Sox will have an easy time accessing their own information. It’s not Papi’s choice. It’s not even the Sox choice. They are stuck and Papi can’t even prove his innocence or minimize his guilt until the court shares that info. I’m willing to wait. We owe Papi more than that.
