Clay Buchholz tangles with the Baltimore Orioles, who he handcuffed two years ago for a no-hitter… and whom handcuffed him the last time the two dueled on Aug. 2 when Clay gave up seven runs over four innings.

I have 1 or 2 SRO tickets to the tuesday night game, $25 each or best offer. Tix are electronic, so they can be e-mailed.
Not to be a grammar Nazi, but you got your who and whom backwards. Other than that, let’s go Clay-by!
The real Clay Buchholz has emerged, pretty much as predicted. His last 6 games have turned him into the 3rd Red Sox starter, pitching as consistently as Jon Lester. 7IP, 3H, 0R against a team that can hit. Because O’s pitching is not so good, the Sox offensive success at home is, IMO, less significant than yet another strong outing by Clay, who RemDog has christened “Buck”. As he continues to improve, that name now fits. Welcome to Fenway, Buck.
“Pretty much as predicted” by some, but I seem to remember a lot of commenters around this site who were sure Buchholz would be a bust, and wanted to dump him in a trade right quick. In fact, I recall a recent post wishing that the Sox had kept Masterson instead of Buchholz.
I realize that it’s the nature of fandom to overreach and think short-term, but I sure am glad that longer-term thinking is the rule in the Sox FO.
Here, here JV. There was a lot of talk about Buch straight up for Salty or Montero before this season. Not hearing much about that now are we? I think Theo clearly made the right move on this one and we’re now reaping the rewards of that decision.
