I agree. I'd rather see him sit.

Gerry beat me to it...
Papi's .838 mark pretty much negates the concerns I might have had about this issue.
I think Papi will be fine in the postseason, but here's a twist on this topic:
If the Sox make the WS... will Tito bench Ortiz while playing in the NL park? I don't think anybody wants to see him at 1B forcing Youk to 3B and Lowell to the bench... do we?

"If it is any consolation, however, Papi has posted a .838 OPS after the break, with 13 HRs in 212 at-bats. So, things are looking up."
Glad you included this tid-bit, because Papi is obviously finding his post-season swing just in time for post-season, as exemplified by his recent multiple hit games and 2HR. He appears confident and is seeing the ball well. The 2nd half stats for Buchholz, Lester, Matsuzaka, Papelbon are also very different from their early stats. I'll take a red hot Papi in the post season, and we will need him as your article demonstrates.

Interesting, that never crossed my mind. It is definitely an advantage that gets negated, but the way the NL is shaping up, they seem to be wising up to this and getting players who can serve as said DH. For example is any other AL playoff team's DH head and shoulders over the NL counterpart?
