Lester really does look like an “ace” tonight. Much better than Joba, who is fighting for his rotation spot.

If you leave one more incendiary comment, I’m blocking you from the site. Just because it’s 3-0 after 3 innings does NOT change the fact that Lester will be the Sox’s No. 1 pitcher in October and does NOT change the fact that Joba IS fighting for his rotation spot.
I’ve had enough of your crap.

Ouch, rocket right off Lester’s leg. Probably going to have a mother of a bruise waking up tomorrow. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him skip a start and throw a tune-up later prior to the playoff.

Don’t worry Evan, when NY loses in 4 to Detroit or something you won’t hear from him until NY has a five game lead sometime next year.

Appears your diagnosis was just about right Evan. Bad ass bruise. But nothing too damaging. Sigh of relief from me, that’s for sure. Although, I would be surprised if he makes more than one start (at most) before the playoffs.

Yeah, tell him Evan. Just go ahead and block that punk. Let’s all pray Lester recovers quickly enough to start game 1.

Call me stupid or confused, but what is the advantage of playing rope-a-dope with the Yankees in NY? Why not pull out the 2 rookies (Jones & Bowden) after their successes, why wait until they are obviously out of gas and they fail, and then leave them in to give up a few more runs? How much bruising do their egos need to become Red Sox? Against the Yankees & Angels you bring out the big guns from the start. They can rest vs. the Jays and Tribe next week.
With four catchers on the roster, why not pinch hit for Tek instead of letting him come up twice in critical situations and K or DP? Was Tito conceding the game by the 5th in order to save the Pen and Bench for another day? Why bring in the entire bench with 2 innings left? I just don’t get it. Why didn’t Ells try a steal? Why did Tek keep calling down & in, when Lester’s success comes from changing location in and out, up and down? Why is Tek catching tonight AND tomorrow? Will he also catch Byrd, who likes to pitch to Tek? It Tito trying to get a message to him about the playoffs?
They are probably exhausted from the trip from KC, and the Yankees were obviously sharp and aggressive after their day off, and yes they are wisely resting players for the off-season, but why not give the team a chance to win..
