Well, some good news after a dreary weekend. John Farrell is reportedly unable to take a managerial job until after 2010. While it’s not in doubt Farrell will one day manage — and/or be a general manager — having Farrell around for at least one more year will prove crucial, especially as this offseason figures to be a watershed one for the franchise.
The Yankees completed their three-game sweep of the Red Sox on Sunday by virtue of a 4-2 victory in the Bronx.
The Sox got off to a quick start, striking first in the opening frame, and extending their lead to 2-0 in the third. The Yanks posted the next four runs, however, including home runs by Mark Teixeira (38) and Melky Cabrera (13).

One month prior to this year’s draft, outfielder Seth Schwindenhammer gave what the Boston Red Sox hope is a premonition of things to come.
While playing in the second annual Statewide Showdown in Bartonville, Ill., Schwindenhammer led his Limestone Community High team to a 10-1 romp over Peoria Notre Dame by going 3-for-4 including two home runs – one a grand slam – and finishing with seven RBI.
