What the Yankees do or don't do cannot govern everything the Red Sox do. The Red Sox need to try to put the best possible team they can on the field, without regard to whatever the Steinbrenners are up to.

I don't think Mauer is going anywhere, but if he does, the Red Sox will certainly put in a bid. If he doesn't come, then there are plenty of other good players who will.

Could be read that way, but Rocco contributed in the field and at bat. I think it all depends on his health, because few 4th OF can do what he does. He lopes like B.J. and gets to balls easily like JD, still has an arm, and a good baseball brain. His subbing for JD or Papi vs. lefties is a big lift both in rest and a high percentage of success. Who else could deliver that who is readily available and cost effective? IMO, sign Rocco if healthy, and see what he can do in his second year at Fenway.

Tonto, cabron! Don't tell that to Ortiz, Martinez, Ramirez, Lowell, Pedroia, Cabrera, Gonzales y Gonzales, Velasquez, Lopez, Navarro. The 60's have been over for a few years, Juan. The Sox have a huge presence in the Dominican, Central and South America; are favored by Cubanos; and Asians too . . . but they don't count, right, because they don't speak Espanol either? Shame on you. Can we start thinking the UNITED States of America, and stop being dittohaters?

I think its real important that we lock up V-Mart now because if Mauer does leave Minne than the Yankees will break the bank for him, and if he doesnt they'll do it for V-Mart if we havent locked him down.

I actually like Scutaro, though I must say it has to be at the right price. At his age, a long term deal will probably get the Sox in trouble. However, I wouldn't mind seeing him sign for a 2-yr deal.
