It was Bill Rohr well before I was born. I think sometime in the mid to late 1960's. I read it in the Red Sox Vs. Yankees: The Greatest Rivalry book.

Billy Rohr opening day 1967. Ellston Howard broke it up with a 9th inning flare to right. Yaz made the greatest catch I have ever seen (over the shoulder- back to home plate) off of a ball hit by Tom Tresh to preserve the gem and get the first out of the ninth.

Not the answer I was looking for, but it was my fault. I worded it wrong. I'm awarding full credit because this indeed happened to Rohr. Stay tuned for the follow up trivia question to this!
