Although the speculation is endless in these parts, it’s still fun to play armchair GM and make decisions on what the Red Sox should do with their money.

This week, we are asking you in our weekly poll (over to the right of the page), which free agent should the Red Sox bring in?  Stud outfielder or maybe a dominant bullpen arm?  Decide and let us know.

Keep in mind some of these players are either Type-A or Type-B free agents and an additional cost in terms of draft picks could be associated with signing them.  We have included their status next to their names to help with your decision.

Feel free to vote and also voice your thoughts in our comments section below.  This is a discussion that many fans have strong opinions on.

As far as our last poll is concerned, the readers of FireBrand AL were loud and clear in terms of which Red Sox they would resign.  Victor Martinez received over 50% of the vote and ran away with the poll by a landslide.  Here are the results for week ending September 9th, 2010:

October 9th

Poll Question: Which player is most important for the Red Sox to re-sign?

  • Victor Martinez – 54%
  • Adrian Beltre – 25%
  • David Ortiz – 15%
  • Jason Varitek – 6%

So there you have it. More than half of the voters feel that the stud-catcher Martinez is the most important for Theo Epstein to bring back to the Sox in 2011. VMart has expressed repeatedly that he wants to stay in Boston, so it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.

Enjoy your Columbus Day weekends, folks!
