Suddenly John Henry and Co. are proud owners of one of England’s most respected football (soccer) teams. How do you feel about this $436 million dollar purchase? Is it good for the Red Sox? Do you watch soccer or will you start now if it’s on NESN?
This week, we are asking you in our weekly poll (over to the right of the page), how will the NESV ownership of Liverpool affect the Red Sox?
We’ve heard a smattering of opinions being sounded off on this subject and now is the time to let us know what you think. Vote and let us know your thoughts in the comments section for this week.
As far as our last poll is concerned, the readers of FireBrand AL were not shy about which big-named free agent they want in Boston. Carl Crawford received over 50% of the vote and stole the show from a field of six. Jayson Werth was a distant second at 20%. Here are the results for week ending October 16th, 2010:
October 16th
Poll Question: Which free agent should the Red Sox bring in?
- Carl Crawford (Type A) – 51%
- Jayson Werth (Type A) – 20%
- Rafael Soriano (Type A) – 12%
- Adam Dunn (Type B) – 7%
- Paul Konerko (Type A) – 6%
- Octavio Dotel (Type B) – 4%
Well, if it’s Carl Crawford you want, let’s hope the Red Sox are ready to pony up $90-$100 million bucks. There won’t be a ton of available space to get a huge player without exceeding the luxury tax threshold. But if there was a guy to spend money on, it would be Crawford. I guess we’ll know some time around Christmas.
