GAME NOTES

John Lackey was John Lackey last night. He pitched seven innings and gave up four runs, just enough if the the Sox had been on their offensive game. Unfortunately, CC Sabathia was CC Sabathia. Tonight the Sox give the ball to Josh Beckett tonight, looking to hold onto their slim division lead. Beckett picked up his eleventh win in his last start, pitching six innings in Arlington while allowing only one run. He struck out four. Meanwhile, the Yankees give the nod to Mr. Dead Arm himself, Phil Hughes. He was lit up in his last start, a 2 2/3 inning effort against Oakland. He gave up six runs in that short amount of time, but the Yankees hammered three grand slams, putting up 22 runs and winning the game. Dustin Pedroia moves back to his customary second spot in the lineup tonight. David Ortiz moves to cleanup in his place.
