Attention all Red Sox fans!  Earlier today, the United States Postal Service unveiled it’s newest commemorative Forever stamp featuring the likeness of Red Sox great, Ted Williams.  As part of an initiative to revive the lost art of stamp collecting, the Postal Service selected Williams to join Joe Dimaggio, Larry Doby, and Willie Stargell as part of their 2012 commemorative collection.

Ted’s daughter, Cynthia Williams, had this to say about the stamp:

“I am incredibly proud and honored to have the U.S. Postal Service commemorate my father in such a beautiful and lasting way.  Dad would be completely humbled to know he was chosen to represent the U.S. in this way.  His love and commitment to this great country is well-known, having served in the US Marine Corps during two wars, and performing at the highest level playing America’s pasttime.  The artwork captures all the grace and determination of his best swing.”

The Ted Williams stamp will go on sale at some point in 2012.
