Every projection about Mike's production must be tentative. If his hip health is maintained he is as likely as not, even with just a minimum Fenway Bump, repeat his awesome performance in 2011 and post injury Septwmber 2012. Add that he is playing for not only a conttact but for his career, and it seems realistic to be optimistic for him. Teams of doctors will be deeply involved in his continued good health, though the future is, ultimately, unreadable.

Another factor in his favor? The professional culture of rebounding will pervade that clubhouse as a common denominator, and be highly supportive throughojt the season. Talk about positive clubhouse
chemistry. This will be about supporting almost every player's struggles to rebound. It's a unique situation in which Salty, Lava, Nap, PD, WMB, Drew, Iggy, Gomes, Nava, Kalish,(Smoak,Capps or Casey), Ells, Victorino, Papi, Lester, Doubront, Lackey, Bailey, Miller, Acevas ... most of the team, have much to prove, injuries and struggles to move beyond, as well as many contract years to
bolster. During what must be a stressful situation, Mike stands to benefit from so many good clubhouse guys sharing the necessity of
playing well. Would it really surprise anyone to see these guys urging each other on to overcome their personal issues? It's a unique situation, and Mike stands to benefit from it.
