Update: Eric Hinske is being plced on bereavement leave for three days for “personal reasons.”
According to the Boston Globe, Brandon Moss will be meeting the Sox in Anaheim to do battle against the Los Angeles Angels.
There is no word on the corresponding roster moves (remember, Curt Schilling is also being activated for tomorrow’s game) but I have to speculate that J.D. Drew is to be placed on the bereavement list to deal with his 17-month old son’s recent surgery (a seven-hour procedure to fix hip alignment). That will open a spot up for Moss and give Wily Mo Pena one final chance to hold off Bobby Kielty.
Drew has been scuffling badly as of late and in his interviews about his son, it was apparent to me that it killed him to be away from his son. If my speculation is true, best of luck to Drew, his son and the debut of Brandon Moss.
