GAME NOTES: Second place is all we have left to play for, and we have to play for it at the Rogers Centre, which has been a very unforgiving venue this season. On the plus side, Beckett’s looked damn good over his last several starts: since reaching a season-high 5.35 ERA in his worst career outing vs. the Yankees on 8/19, Beckett’s thrown 40 innings of 2.70 ERA ball, with 22 K’s and 14 BB’s. Here’s hoping that’s more a sign of what we’ll see in 2007 than his first few months.
