GAME NOTES: Yankees-Red Sox. Fenway Park. Pettitte vs. Schilling. Folks, does it get any better? Both teams enter Friday night hot, but are going about their daily business in different fashions. The Red Sox are winning with pitching, with their staff giving up just 17 runs in the last 9 games (the Sox are 7-2 over that span), the combo of an efficient staff and a strong bullpen throwing strongly at the same time, just what Mr. Epstein envisioned. The Yankees, on the other hand, scored 27 runs in their 3 games vs. the below average Indians pitching staff, with the smoking hot A-Rod and Bobby Abreu leading the charge. The Yanks come off an amazing comeback with 2 outs in the 9th against Tribe closer Joe Borowski, culminating with a Rodriguez HR to dead center, his 10th of the short campaign. The Sox and Yanks are 1-2 in the AL East entering this weekend, just the way it should be.
NOTE: I’ll be live-blogging the Sox-Yanks game tonight right here on the site. So come back during the game for updates and thoughts as the series opener is played.
