GAME NOTES: Tim Wakefield returns to his favorite (train wreck of a) stadium- Tropicana Field- where the knuckleballer is 7-0 with a 2.39 ERA in 17 games. He’s received a decision in each of his 20 starts this season, winning vs. Chicago last Sunday while going 6.1 innings and surrendering 4 late earned runs. Jason Hammel is making his second start on the year, his first being a shortened spot start in Yankee Stadium giving up 2 ER in 4 IP. The one player Wake will have to contain is Carl Crawford, a lifetime .344 hitter with 2 HR vs. Wake in 64 AB. With the Tampa pitching staff, the Red Sox should be expected to put up a huge amount of runs this weekend.
