Up 9-7 entering the bottom of the fifth inning the Boston Red Sox had a cushion to work with, but Julian Tavarez could not hold the lead.
Giving up two runs on a Jorge Posada RBI double and Robinson Cano notched an RBI single tying it up at 9 apiece. Then another two scored on a throwing error by Julio Lugo giving the New York Yankees an 11-9 lead.
Boston would give up four more runs in the eighth to seal the victory for the Yanks.
Goat of the Game: Cannot blame the offense here – 9 runs worth of offense

Pitching: All of it was just bad besides David Aardsma’s relief stint of two innings, two hits, and no runs allowed. Clay Buchholz surrendered seven runs over 3 2/3 innings of work, Tavarez yielded three, and Mike Timlin allowed four in the eighth inning.
Preview of the Next Game: Josh Beckett vs Mike Mussina
Last time around the Moose got rocked and if the offense scored 9 runs in the previous night one would tend to think Mussina is counting his blessings before he sleeps.
