GAME NOTES: Once (and still arguably is) a top prospect in all of baseball, flamethrowing Homer Bailey has run into some rough patches on his way to being a formidable major league hurler. Possibly a rushed call-up, Bailey threw 45 poor innings for the Reds in 2007, managing a 28/28 K/BB with a 5.76 ERA. This season in two starts, Bailey hasn’t been able to harness his control, either: 10 IP, 12 H, 7 BB, 3 K, 7 ER, 3 HR, 6.30 ERA, and this is coming off a so-so performance at triple-A Louisville where he should be dominating: 4.15 ERA, 1.40 WHIP this season. Can Bailey re-gain his form? Let’s hope it doesn’t start today.
