Gavin Floyd improved to 15-6 pitching 6 2/3’s innings of work against Tim Wakefield who turned in his 17th quality of the start of the season – tied with Jon Lester for the team lead – in a 4-2 decision over Boston.
Jim Thome hit a two-run homer in the first inning and the Red Sox played catch up the rest of the way.
Goat of the Game: Offense
11 runners left on base is way too many for this potent offense. Have to bring those runners around to score sooner or later. 10 of those runners were left on base with two outs in the inning.
Next Game: Rays whacked them
Welcome the Baltimore Orioles to Fenway Park. They just got slapped around by the Rays so hopefully they will still be flat.
