David Aardsma, recently cut from the 40 man roster to make room for Mark Kotsay, was traded to the Mariners for 20 year old lefty starting pitcher Fabian Williamson in A-ball. He throws alot of strikes, and some walks with 73K’s/25BB in 65.2IP, 6-2, 3.43ERA in 2007; and 67K/27BB in 52.2IP, 4-3, 4.10 in 2008.
Pauley for Bierd, Aardsma for Williamson. It is good to see the Sox using older good talent to secure younger good talent, and keeping that farm system healthy.
I’m going to follow David Aardsma closely, though, as he seemed to be finally learning command of that 98mph heat when he injured his groin, twice. After the success of Monsterson, and acquisitions of Saito and RRamirez, there was no room left in the Pen. Good luck David.
