Ortiz went 0-for-7 with three strikeouts and the Boston Red Sox lost in the bottom of the 12th inning to the Los Angeles Angels on a Jeff Mathis RBI single to center.
Brad Penny earned a no decision on 6 1/3 innings of work, seven hits, four runs, one walk and four strikeouts.
On the bright side, Dustin Pedroia went 4-for-6 with an RBI and Julio Lugo went 5-for-6 with an RBI.
Goat of the Game – Ortiz
This loss was a clear sign that the lineup needs to be shaken up. He left more runners on base than every other MLB team except the San Francisco Giants (12 as a team).
