BOS 6, NYY 4: Undefeated

New venue, same drama. The rivalry between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees will always be eventful.

5/4: Welcome to Yankee Stadium

The rain is looking to wash tonight's much anticipated Yankee Stadium debut for the Red Sox. If it goes down, it could be a real swing game in the AL East for both teams and their starting pitchers. Is Phil Hughes for real? Can Jon Lester turn it around? Can the Red Sox continue to treat the Yankees the way the Rays have treated them so far this year?

Round two: Red Sox/Yankees.

Starting tonight, the Red Sox face-off with the Yankees, as you may have heard. And the Bronx Bombers happen to have drawn our top two starters.

TAM 5, BOS 3: Speed kills

Ex-NFL color commentator John Madden -- not to be confused with Rays Manager Joe Maddon -- always said speed kills. He wasn't joking.

5/3: Penny for a Split

Is this a put up or shut up start for Brad Penny? Not yet, but close.

BOS 10, TAM 6: Green, Youkilis lead Sox

Nick Green isn't making Terry Francona's decision to play Julio Lugo over him easy while teammate Kevin Youkilis isn't making opposing pitchers' jobs on the mound any easier.

5/2: Cy Wake

The Rays hold a career average of .298 against Wakefield (for complete list visit Baseball Reference here). But Wakefield has still managed a ton of success at Tropicana Field with a 9-3 career record and 2.86 ERA in St. Pete. The Sox need this one. They have called upon their stopper.

Remember when Josh Beckett was great?

And I know that "game-calling" skills may be overrated. But in the case of Beckett, I prefer Varitek to be behind the plate, rather than Kottaras. No disrespect to Georgie boy, but I like when the calm, collective, intelligent mind of Tek is calling the shots while Beckett is on the hill. Could be just a personal preference I guess. But we will all agree, I'm sure, that nobody knows Beckett like Tek does.

TAM 6, BOS 2: Slugged

If Evan Longoria could play a full season against Boston's pitching staff who knows what his season totals would be.

5/1: Welcome back offense

Matt Garza made the Red Sox bats disappear last night. Let's hope there's some pent up offense ready to explode this evening against Andy Sonnanstine. Justin Masterson looks to make it back to back impressive outings, following up on his performance Sunday night against the Yankees. I wonder if Justin drove the Mini down to Tampa?
