July 06, 2010 - St. Petersburg, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES - epa02239447 Boston Red Sox pitcher Felix Doubront delivers to the Tampa Bay Rays during the third inning of a Major League Baseball game in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA, 06 July 2010.

Now that the Adrian Gonzalez rumors have started to resurface and we start to piece together what it would take to pry Gonzo from San Diego, we ask the poll question “Who is the Red Sox’ most untouchable prospect?”

In order for the Sox to obtain Gonzalez, they will need to give up a heavily-stacked pile of prospects that may also include Jacoby Ellsbury.

Who would you not trade? Casey Kelly?  Or would you be willing to deal him with a well-stocked pantry of arms?  Ryan Kalish looks to be a young Trot Nixon, Felix Doubront is a big lefty who was Minor League Pitcher of the year, Anthony Ranaudo and Anthony Rizzo are big-time prospects and Jose Iglesias is the shortstop of the future.

So who won’t it be for you?

And as far as our last poll is concerned, the readers of FireBrand AL were clear that the NESV acquisition of Liverpool would not negatively impact the Red Sox. It was relatively split between “no impact” and a “positive impact” on the organization. Questions were raised by some that the ownership group was not 100% committed, but FireBrand AL readers feel the ownership will appropriately compartmentalize the franchises. Here are the results for week ending October 23rd, 2010:

October 23th

Poll Question: How will the NESV ownership of Liverpool affect the Red Sox?

  • No impact. Red Sox team operations are not affected by soccer – 46%
  • Positively. The more revenue this ownership can generate, the better – 39%
  • Negatively. This ownership group should focus 100% on the Red Sox – 15%

Only 15 percent of those polled are concerned about this negatively affecting Boston’s baseball operations. It seems reasonable that this ownership would want to continue to pursue other business and revenue avenues, but let’s just hope what happened to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers owners after they bought Manchester United, doesn’t happen to John Henry and the Red Sox.
