One of the ideas that we are considering introducing for 2011 is a monthly mailbag. Chip Buck came up with the idea and we wanted to ask the FireBrans readers if this is something you would like to have each month.
Vote to the right of your screen in this week’s FireBrand poll:
Do you want a monthly mailbag at FireBrand for the 2011 season?
I think it could be pretty cool and it might make for some interesting dialogue and bold predictions.

In last week’s poll, Jed Lowrie ran away with the shortstop gig. Right out of the gates there were some Jose Iglesias daydreamers (myself included), but Lowrie received over 50% of the vote in the end as the readers largely agree that he will hold the reins come October 2011.
It makes the most sense when you look at the three, but as we discussed last week — you can make a reasonable argument for any of the three.
Here are the results:
Who will be the Red Sox shortstop at the end of 2011?
* Jed Lowrie (52%)
* Marco Scutaro (25%)
* Jose Iglesias (23%)
* Other (0%, 4 Votes)
So there you have it. Lowrie is the predicted winner while defensive whiz Iglesias trailed Marco Scutaro just slightly in the end.
Four other readers are predicting that the Red Sox shortstop will be someone else. As Chip pointed out in the comments — the way Theo rotates through the position, it could feasibly be anyone.
