With the Red Sox hinting at Wakefield making the 2011 Red Sox roster as a long relief/emergency starter, we need to ask the question: Is Wakefield the right choice?
Choosing Wakefield give the Sox someone with flexibility and to whom they they are familiar with. But is he the guy you want to see? I know I have spoken to a lot of fans about Wakefield and many of them wanted to see him put out to pasture two years ago.
Now he will presumably knock Alfredo Aceves out of a job in the short-term.
The coaching staff champion the virtues of Wakefield, but how do you feel about it?
Vote to the right of your screen in this week’s FireBrand poll:
Should Tim Wakefield be on the 25-man roster in 2011?
—————————————————————
In last week’s poll, we asked if you would like to have a monthly mailbag at FireBrand in 2011 and for those who voted, it was a resounding ‘YES’.
doctorgres made a good point in the comments section about time lags and making the questions answered relevant to what is going on at the moment. Whether it’s Chip, Evan, Troy, Tim, Charlie or me — we’ll make sure of it!
Here are the results:
* Yes (76%)
* Indifferent (18%)
* No (6%)
Chip Buck will probably spearhead this movement for us and I expect (like mostly everything Chip puts up) it will be very interesting and foster interaction and discussion.
So go vote on Wake and let us know your thoughts in the comments section. The guy has been on the team since I was in middle school!
