GAME NOTES
One of the most anticipated Red Sox seasons in recent memory, kicks off today at 4:05 in Arlington, Texas. As most assumed, Jon Lester gets the opening day start, the first of many I hope. He is opposed by Rangers left-hander C.J. Wilson. Wilson had some hamstring tightness late in spring training but is healthy and able to make today’s start. Especially given last year, it is very encouraging that the Red Sox made it through the spring training without any injuries other than Felix Doubrount’s elbow tightness. The expected lineup for today’s game has Mike Cameron in right, not J.D. Drew. We can expect to see Cameron against most lefties, but will it be a straight platoon?

PLAYER OF THE DAY
In honor of the shiny new, Red Sox first baseman. today’s player of the day is tied for the team lead (with Mo Vaughn) in Opening Day starts by a first baseman. George Scott played 14 season in the majors, including parts of eight with the Red Sox. Although “Boomer” hit more than 20 home runs six times in his career, he is most known for his glove, winning eight Gold Gloves (1967-68, 71-76) over the course of his career.

Ok, here we go; grab a hot dog and some crackerjacks and play ball!
