In news we all saw coming. The Red Sox have designated Dennys Reyes for assignment. There was no way they let Reyes walk onto the field for opening day at home. Along with Matt Albers headed to the 15 day DL the team needed two pitchers to add to the bullpen.
Called up today will be Alfredo Aceves and Felix Doubront to fill the spots. Doubront will take on the left handed role and he did a good job in that role last year.
In 40 plate appearances against left handed batters he had a K/BB of 5.50, an OPS against of .576 and a groundball rate of 51 percent. This is all based on a small sample, but he couldn’t do much worse than Reyes did so far.
