GAME NOTES
Things are looking up. The offense got rolling yesterday to the tune of 9 runs and 12 hits. It was encouraging to see contributions up and down the line-up. Carl Crawford, Kevin Youkilis, and Marco Scutaro were the only Sox batters without a hit though Youkilis did walk three times. I was especially excited to see Jarrod Saltalamacchia go 2-for-4 with an RBI. Crawford, despite his struggles at the plate, made two nice catches in left, one sliding and one in foul territory against the wall. The bullpen was similarly terrific; four shut-out innings allowing only three base runners, none over that last two innings. Hopefully, what we saw from those three aspects of the team can continue. So let’s see, that’s offense, defense, the bullpen all performed well yesterday and that would lead…the rotation. Hopefully, Clay Buchholz can get that aspect Boston’s game going today.

PLAYER OF THE DAY
In continuation from yesterday, in the 1932 trade that sent Danny MacFayden to the Red Sox received two players. One of which was RHP Ivy Andrews. Appropriately nicknamed “Poison”, Andrews played for the Red Sox for just parts of two seasons, 1932 and 1933. He eventually returned to the Yankees for 1937 and 1938 seasons, appearing in the 1937 World Series for the Yankees. All in all, he spent 8 years in the majors with 4 clubs (Yankees, Red Sox, Browns, Indians).
