GAME NOTES
The last two games have done a lot for my confidence in this team moving forward. Well pitched, timely hitting, and some great defensive plays. It was especially encouraging yesterday to see offensive contributions for Salty and Jacoby. Obviously, they both have struggled in the early going so seeing that from them was great. Also read this in various places yesterday: the Red Sox were 5-9 after 14 games last year, this year they are 4-10, not much of a difference this year. I can think of no better way to celebrate Patriots’ Day than with a three game winning streak.

PLAYER OF THE DAY
Happy Patriot’s Day!  Col. James Barrett was one of the commanders of the American militia forces at the Battle of Lexington and Concord. Jimmy Barrett was an outfielder for the Red Sox from 1907-1908.  Barrett began his career with the Reds in 1899, the moved to Tiger in 1901.  He was the Tigers’ regular centerfield until 1905 when he lost the job to a young Ty Cobb.  Although he hit .291 with a .379 for his career and was always considered an excellent fielder, he played in only 109 games in his two season with Boston.  He career ended prematurely because ofof a knee injury in 1908.
