GAME NOTES
The Red Sox season so far can be divided into three distinct periods.
1. April 1st-15th 2-10 .166
2. April 16th-24th 8-1 .888
3. April 26th-29th 1-3 .250
Many questions arise. First, how long is the latest brush with mediocrity going to last? And second, which team is the real Red Sox? Will they ever stand up? I’ve begun to equate the 2011 Red Sox with Dice-K, inconsistent, horrendous at times, brilliant at other times but mostly, maddeningly frustrating.

PLAYER OF THE DAY
We all know the trade between the Red Sox and Mariners that sent brought Jason Varitek and Derek Lowe to Boston and sent Heathcliff Slocumb to Seattle. But how the Red Sox acquire Slocumb in the first place? He was traded to the Red Sox, along with other players, from Philadelphia in exchange for Glenn Murray, Lee Tinsely, and Ken Ryan before the 1996 season. Ryan had been with the Red Sox since making his major league debut in 1992. He appeared in 124 games out of the bullpen for the Red Sox from ’92-’95, He complied a 3.66 ERA with 22 saves. Ryan was a local guy, born in Pawtucket, RI and attended high school in Seekonk, MA. He made his last major league appearance with Philadelphia in 1999.
