The Stanley Cup parade for the Bruins this morning will hopefully inspire the Red Sox to continue their winning ways. Pitching for the Red Sox tonight is Jon Lester. With a win tonight, Lester will become the first pitcher in the Major Leagues with 10 wins this season. Lester had a great outing against the Blue Jays in his last start: he pitched eight innings and conceded one run on two hits and a walk, garnering eight strikeouts. Lester makes his first career start against the Brewers tonight, but Yunesky Betancourt is 4-10 with a homer and three RBI against Lester.
Randy Wolf takes the mound for the Brewers tonight. Wolf pitched well in his last start against the Cubs, lasting seven innings and giving up no runs on six hits and no walks with eight strikeouts, but got a no decision in a 1-0 loss. Wolf is 2-1 with a 2.73 ERA against the Red Sox in his career. Among today’s starters, Adrian Gonzalez is 6-17 against Wolf.

– Tomorrow the Red Sox will celebrate the Bruins’ Stanley Cup victory before the 1:35 game.
– The Red Sox have won 12 of their last 13 games, outscoring their opponents 100-46 in those games.
– On June 18, 1953, the Red Sox scored 17 runs on 14 hits in the seventh inning of a 23-3 victory against the Detroit Tigers at Fenway Park. Gene Stevens got three hits in the seventh, and Sammy White scored three runs in the inning.
– And for today’s Totally Untrue Fun Fact: Bob Uecker has a theory on how to hit a knuckleball: “Drink three shots of whiskey before each at bat against a knuckleballer. The randomness of your swing plane will help you connect with the ball,” says Uecker.
