GAME NOTES
After hitting 4 HRs in last night’s game, the Red Sox are currently ranked 4th in the American League with 102 HRs on the season, one behind Toronto in 3rd. After allowing 6 HRs in last night’s game the Orioles moved into last place with 107 HRs allowed, just past Texas at 103. Basically indicative of the high-powered Red Sox offense and the Orioles’ weak starting, the Red Sox are first in runs scored, the Orioles are last in runs allowed. The Red Sox will be facing the best pitcher Orioles have tonight in young lefty Zach Britton. Britton made his major league debut on April 3 and has not disappointed the Baltimore faithful during his rookie season. On April 28th against the Red Sox, he went six innings allowing only one run in a 4-1 victory for the O’s. With Josh Beckett on the mound for the Red Sox, look for a pitchers’ duel tonight.
INJURY REPORT
Baltimore: Brian Roberts, concussion (Placed on the 7-day DL 5/21); Luke Scott, torn right labrum, (Placed on the 15-day DL 7/5)

PLAYER OF THE DAY
The Red Sox hit 6 HRs in last night’s game alone. Bill Carrigan hit only six home runs in his entire 10-year career. Carrigan was a catcher for the Red Sox from 1906-1916 and manager from 1913-16 and 1927-29. His best year HR-wise was 1910 when he hit three. For perspective the Red Sox hit three in a row last night. Carrigan was a .257/.334/.333 career hitter. Bill Carrigan was the first Red Sox manager to lead the team to two World Series titles, a feat later matched by Terry Francona.
Line-ups will be posted in the comments when they are available, feel free to add them if they aren’t there.
