According to Julian Benbow of the Boston Globe, Jon Lester‘s next start will be pushed back a day to Friday, so Erik Bedard can make his first start in a Red Sox uniform on Thursday against the Cleveland Indians, which allows Lester to pitch against the Yankees. For at least the next turn with the rotation, the Red Sox will go with a six man crew; although Andrew Miller will be available from the bullpen on Thursday night should Bedard tire early. (Keep in mind, other than Bedard’s 57-pitch outing on Friday night, he hadn’t pitched in a little over a month.) If Miller doesn’t end up pitching on Thursday night, his next turn will be Monday against the Minnesota Twins. If he does, he’ll flip spots with Tim Wakefield with Wake pitching Monday and Miller pitching Tuesday.
