With all the recent commentary regarding David Ortiz’s apparent unhappiness about not being approached about a new contract, I thought we’d get the pulse of the nation involved.

I’ll have a full article out later today about Ortiz and a possible contract, but let’s see where you stand on the matter. The question is straight forward: Should the Sox give Ortiz a multi-year deal?

Last week we asked: Do you like the Erik Bedard acquisition. Here are the results…

Yes, but I’m still a little nervous 61% – Well, his first start with the Sox didn’t help to calm any nervousness, but I believe his command will be fine in the long run.

No, but at least it’s an upgrade 19% – Given the recent loss of Clay Buchholz, Bedard is certainly an upgrade. At least it didn’t cost much, right? Actually, I take it back. The Dodgers did give up a legit prospect in the deal.

Yes, he’ll be a huge lift 12% – I, for one, think that Bedard could still live up to these expectations, especially in the post season. He just needs to find his command and stay healthy, in my opinion.

No, they should have aimed higher 8% – The minority of you wanted the Sox to go for it, apparently no matter the cost. I can’t completely disagree, but I do think Bedard can end up pitching just as good down the stretch as any other pitcher that was available at the deadline.
