Since I’m in draft/prospect mode today, I thought I’d pass along a link from Baseball America regarding the Red Sox 2011 draft class. Executive editor of Baseball America, Jim Callis, in a mailbag article from yesterday, ranked the Red Sox 2011 draft class as the third best in baseball.
Boston signed six of our Top 100 Draft Prospects, and I believe that’s more than any team except for the Rays and Padres. If the Red Sox had picked high enough to grab one of the seven elite players in this draft, I would have put them No. 1on this list. – Source: BaseballAmerica.com
The players — outside of the first round — Callis goes on to mention are listed below with their names linked to information from SoxProspects.com…
Williams Jerez, 2nd round
Noe Ramirez, 4th round
Mookie Betts, 5th round
Cody Kukuk, 7th round
If the upside of these picks isn’t enough for you, then maybe you’re just happy that the Sox have added some cool sounding names to the farm system (Mookie Betts is my favorite one).
