GAME NOTES

Floods in the concourse. Trash littered across the bleachers. A healthy Erik Bedard. The apocalypse has hit Fenway. A strange day will only get stranger tonight as the Sox take on the A’s in the second game of a double header. Boston took game one 9-3, with Jon Lester pitching six quality innings. Bedard starts for Boston tonight, still looking for his first win as a Red Sox. His last effort came Monday night in Texas. He went six innings, surrendering four runs, three of them coming on one swing from Mike Napoli. He struck out four Rangers and walked only one. He comes into the game with a tough 4-9 record, despite a solid 3.57 ERA. Most importantly, he’s still healthy. (For now…). Graham Godfrey makes his fourth start of the season for Oakland, and his first since June 23rd. The twenty-seven year old lefty has posted a 4.24 ERA in his three starts, and has spent the rest of the year in the minor leagues.
