GAME NOTES

The less said about last night’s debacle the better. Today the second-place Red Sox try to rebound against Colby Lewis. Lewis has been a bit lucky this year (.262 BABIP, 4.69 FIP) so let’s hope his luck runs out this afternoon. Lewis has given up 31 HRs this year, second worst in the majors behind old friend Bronson Arroyo’s 36 dingers surrendered, so we’ve got that going for us, which is nice.

Taking the bump for the Sox will be Erik Bedard. Bedard has been fairly solid for Boston so far without getting any wins yet. Here’s hoping for seven innings today from Bedard (a feat he has yet to achieve with the Sox), as the pen could use a rest after the last two games.
