On the heals of a 14 inning win in the second game of doubleheader against the rival Yankees, the Sox find themselves one game up on the charging Rays with three games to play. While the win happened to come off of a Yankees team that rolled out Eduardo Nunez, Eric Chavez, Chris Dickerson and Austin Romine in their starting lineup, a win is a win — especially with all the September drama surrounding the Sox.

Josh Beckett heads to the mound Monday, followed by Erik Bedard on Tuesday and, depending on the circumstance, perhaps Jon Lester on three days rest on Wednesday. The three best pitchers in the Sox’ rotation could end up pitching all three games in this incredibly crucial series.

So, I ask you, oh faithful Red Sox Nation, will the Red Sox stave off the Rays and win the AL Wild Card?

Last week, there was a debate over whether or not the Sox should give Alfredo Aceves a start. We asked for your opinion on the matter…

Yes (78%, 121 Votes) – Clearly, most of you are fed up with the Wakefield/Weiland experiment. Also the Lackey experience — though he actually pitched well enough to keep the Sox in the game on Sunday.

No (22%, 35 Votes) – The minority were probably thinking that Aceves is better suited to throw a couple innings in a relief role. Given his numbers as a starter, this reasoning is sound.
