The day has finally arrived. It’s April 1st, 2013, and your Boston Red Sox will be playing Game 1 of 162 today.
- Only one thing will bring the Red Sox out of the lows they’ve been in, and that’s winning. Sure, the season is a fresh start, but losing is old and stale. (Forget the brand and win some games)
- Last year, the clubhouse was toxic. This year, however, new additions will look to make the concoction healthy once again. (Red Sox seek winning formula through chemistry experiment)
- Jacoby Ellsbury‘s heard the critics. And he knows there’s only one way to disprove them – by playing. By producing. By dominating the game. (Jacoby Ellsbury and the Gap Between Perception & Reality)
- Wake and rake – the motto for Will Middlebrooks. Ever since he was eight, WMB has been more like a WMD to opposing pitchers. (The headstrong kid who made it to Fenway Park)
- Here’s a big ICYMI for all you fans who missed out on the madness over the weekend: the Jackie Bradley era has begun. (Red Sox name Jackie Bradley Jr. Opening Day left fielder)
- The Red Sox
hitended up incrashed into rock bottom last year. Will they improve? Of course! But how much better will they actually be? (Red Sox will be better . . . but by how much?)
- Whatever happens, just remember that Don & Jerry will always be on the call to make you love the game all over again. (Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo Amongst the People)
A little heart-to-heart for you all:
Baseball is supposed to be fun. Let it be fun. Don’t let your views of the players/ownership/team in general take away from it. I mean, let’s face it, if you survived 2012 and that ridiculous crap shoot, you can survive anything. It will not be that bad again.
Go into 2013 with no expectations. That way, when anything good happens, you’ll be happy with it. I know I’ll probably freak out over every 450-footer Mike Napoli hits over the Monster, so why not join in the fun? It’s much more entertaining this way.
Remember, this is your team. Be a good fan. Cheer ’em on. And above all, keep the faith.
