The Red Sox are the best team in the American League at the break and I couldn’t be any happier and/or excited. This is really great.
- Not all is sunshine and daisies though, as the Red Sox ended the first half with something of a stinging loss to the Oakland Athletics. (Red Sox hit break hard with walkoff loss to A’s)
- Brandon Workman‘s starting pitcher debut, however, was a diamond in the rough during a rough end to a road trip. The kid is alright. (Brandon Workman Effort Just What The Red Sox Need)
- 11 more wins, and the Sox match last year’s win total. They’re leading the AL East for the first time since 2011. There’s a lot of good stuff here. (Sox happy with big picture at All-Star Break)
- The team has lost pitchers like Joel Hanrahan & Andrew Miller. Will Middlebrooks is back in Triple-A. But despite all of this, they keep on grinding. (Red Sox are sure-fire surprise despite numerous setbacks)
- He hasn’t had a good year by any stretch of the imagination, so it’s fair to ask – is there something wrong with Jon Lester? How did he fall so far? (What happened to Jon Lester?)
- What can’t Xander Bogaerts do? He’s got a fantastic talent for baseball, he’s already got the fans behind him, and his name is the coolest thing since sliced bread. (Baseball America names Xander Bogaerts best overall at Futures Game)
- I’m not an umpire or a Pitch F/X guy by any means, but that…that looks like a ball. (Carly Rae Jepsen had a little trouble throwing out the first pitch)
Because the Home Run Derby is tonight, here’s what I’ll leave you with:
