Last week, I asked you to qualify your level of concern with Clay Buchholz’s rough start to 2014. To that point, Buchholz had been inconsistent, with two starts of six innings and two earned runs allowed, and two starts with six runs allowed (one of which lasted only 2.1 innings). Well, it seems that most of you are “very” concerned by Buchholz’s performance (43%), but not quite ready to bump that up to “extremely” (21%). Two percent of you just did not care, saying you were “not at all” concerned.
Buchholz turned in a 7-inning, three-run start two days ago, and his xFIP currently sits at 3.95, so it looks as though there’s plenty of opportunity for him to right the ship.
How concerned are you with Clay Buchholz so far?
This week, I’m sticking with the “arbitrary assignments of concern” theme, but applying it to the Red Sox defense. As it stands right now, the 2014 Red Sox have been bad defensively, bordering on atrocious, as if they’re trying to field golf balls instead of baseballs. Fire Brand’s Jack Keller took a look at the changes that the Red Sox defense has undergone since last season, and the likelihood that it gets turned around soon.
Now, I’m curious what you think. And that’s this week’s question:
How concerned are you by the 2014 Red Sox defense?
