Instead of our expected #6-3homestand, the Red Sox went inverse on us and moped through a 3-6 homestand that saw the beginnings of some much needed roster maneuvering. The collective failures of the pitching staff saw some bullpen turnover with Anthony Varvaro, Edward Mujica and Robbie Ross Jr moving on — Ross to Pawtucket, the others elsewhere — but more importantly turnover in the dugout with the firing of pitching coach Juan Nieves and the subsequent hiring of Carl Willis.

Paul looks at the move as shot across John Farrell and even Ben Cherrington’s bow. John Farrell is on notice. Our hosts discuss what the moves — including the optioning of Allen Craig to AAA — mean for the team going forward and what moves might still be in the wings.
