Does anyone else look up highlights on MLB.com to get your baseball fix? Or is that just me? Because home run highlights are pretty awesome. That, and whatever Mike Trout does.
- We hear nothing out of the Sox for weeks, and then Terry Francona fires a shot over the bow. Talk about an opportune time to, well, talk. (Image drove owners, Francona laments)
- There’s really nothing but silence coming from 4 Yawkey Way right now. Is it troubling? Probably not, but it’s worth checking out. (No, Red Sox Not In On (Most) Pitchers)
- Guess what, everybody? It’s time for your favorite game show, Arbitration! Just name your price, and we’ll see if you’re worth it. Probably not, but hey, you tried. (No need for arbitration)
- Both the New York Mets and Houston Astros have just as many Sunday Night Baseball games in the first half as the Red Sox do: one. (ESPN releases its Sunday Night Baseball schedule)
- For a guy who still shined despite the team crumbling around him, Junichi Tazawa doesn’t get a lot of recognition outside of the blogosphere. But it’s sure nice to see his name get out there. (The five 2012 campaigns that were easy to overlook)
- Any contract that mentions “deferred money” scares me – see: Bonilla, Bobby. This signing also took away a draft pick from the Washington Nationals. Cue my laughter. (Nationals To Sign Rafael Soriano)
- The World Baseball Classic wants some nice, clean-cut baseball, which means that pitchers cannot appear in more than one game on the same day. Didn’t know that was a problem. (New WBC rules reduce pitch counts)
I’m hearing rumors that our boy, Xander Bogaerts, might play in the WBC. If he does, you can expect some highlight reel-worthy plays.
