Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Rays

Dear Tampa, You did it. It was only fitting that the Red Sox would come back from an improbable loss to force Game Six, but it had to be done to further the Cinderella season.

10/19: Do or Die Part III

We've been in this situation before. Last year. 2004. 1986. Are we going to make it 4-4 in improbable comebacks, or is our time up? Find out tonight.

Red Sox to go hard after Jake Peavy?

The Red Sox are in a great position to win the Peavy sweepstakes due to their depth and the Padres' asking price. That may seem like a steep price -- Bowden, Masterson and Anderson for Peavy -- but for a 27-year old who is as immensely talented as he is, it's completely logical.

Just clarifying something…

Look, I understand that the sexy stat is 9-0 ... that's nine straight elimination games the Red Sox have won in the ALCS while facing elimination, but let's not delude ourselves. It's 9-1 in the playoffs. I'm not trying to intimate we have no shot of winning the ALCS, but 9-0 is a flawed statistic. So let's stop quoting it.

10/18: Do or Die Pt. II

2008 ALCS Game Six. Victory may seem unlikely, but the Red Sox have not claimed a championship title in the last ninety years without first digging themselves a 1-3 (or worse) hole in the ALCS, and then climbing out of it on their way to a World Series sweep. Beckett takes hill tonight in must-win

Taking the hill tonight is, of course, Josh Beckett. The Beckett taking the hill is most certainly not one that we expected to take the hill this October -- this one has a lot of questions surrounding him.
