5/24: Avoid the Sweep

Tim Redding seems just right for some lumber to be flashed.

Looking Up

MLB: MAY 14 Red Sox at AngelsWhen the Toronto Blue Jays came to town with a 3.5 game lead over the Boston Red Sox, it would be fair to characterize the first meeting of the two teams this season as surprisingly critical. One team was going to make a statement and thus far, it has been the Red Sox speaking the loudest.

In light of David Ortiz' home run last night, I thought it was a good opportunity to look at the collection of things working in the Red Sox favor since returning East and get a pulse from "all you FireBrandamaniacs" out there.

5/20: Calling all Papi’s

Even though the Papi video tribute didn't bring back the old Papi (it was a lefty pitching...so a break is called for), a win begets a little more video mojo action. Too bad the Jays are throwing another lefty again tonight.

5/19: Time to put those Jays in thier place

Big Papi's back after a few days respite. Will the time off help him find his swing in time to welcome the American League East best Toronto Blue Jays? -> Mojo video after the jump...

5/16: Aces Up

Time for Beckett to take this team on his back for a night and throw eight innings of one run ball. I'd settle for seven of two run ball, but anything less than a quality start is unacceptable.

5/15: Homecoming King

What better way for Lester to right the ship than in front of his friends and family near his home of Puyallup, Washington? I look forward to an evening of Dave Roberts saying "Jakubauskus".

Lay it down doesn’t always mean “lay down”

I am not a proponent of the sacrifice bunt in most cases. For example, with one out, I don't believe in the sacrifice...ever. So the fact that the Red Sox don't bunt runners over doesn't, for the most part, bother me at all.

However, there are times a bunt is called for and needs to be executed. The Red Sox missed two such opportunities today in Anaheim and it may have cost them a win.
