7/24: Welcome LaRoche!

Let's see if the Red Sox can put a win on the board for Jon Lester in Adam LaRoche's debut with the club.

7/22: Youth shall be served

Adam LaRoche and Chris Duncan in, Julio Lugo and prospects out....but none of them will be an impact in today's game. With the Yankees win today already in the books, tonight is all about Clay Buchholz.

7/21: “I solve problems”

Those pesky Yankees are back aside us at the top of the AL East. I couldn't think of a better day for the Stopper to come to work.

Reminds you of the "Wolf" doesn't he?

7/20: (ex) Brave new world

One time teammates with the Braves, John Smoltz and Kevin Millwood, square off tonight in Texas. Jacoby Elsbury tops the lineup we all expected to see most of the year. We're bringing the "A" team tonight!

Ellsbury, Pedroia, Youkilis, Ortiz, Bay, Drew, Lowell, Varitek, Lowrie.

7/19: Duel in the Dome

Today's game features one of the best pitching matchups of the season with Roy Halladay facing off against a rolling Jon Lester as the Sox aim to take the first series of the second half in Toronto. Could this be the last time the Sox face Halladay in a Blue Jays uniform?

7/17: Out with the old, in with the new

The second half starts with a bang and without Julio Lugo to kick around. Clay Buchholz gets the nod tonight in a cameo appearance with the big club. With Mike Lowell back, and Lowrie on the way tomorrow, the Red Sox will get a good look at what their potential defficiencies are heading into the deadline.

In honor of the departed:

7/9: 1st half MUP = Penny

What is a MUP? Most Under-appreciated Player. I think the first half award for 2009 Red Sox MUP belongs to Brad Penny. Considering what we expected from him (who thought he'd still be on the team in July?), Penny's ability to go deep in games consistently has given the team a chance to win and kept the bullpen alive and kicking.
