Troy Glaus tied the game with a solo-homerun in the seventh inning at 4-4 and Vernon Wells hit a two-run shot in the top of the ninth off of Hideki Okajima ousting the Boston Red Sox 6-4.
Wells hit his 16th homerun of the season against Okajima who had not given up a homerun since August 1st against the Baltimore Orioles.
Boston had their chances only scoring one run while having the bases loaded twice with one of those chances coming in the bottom of the seventh inning with one out.
